TPE is a class of copolymers or a physical mix of polymers that combine the characteristics of thermoplastics and elastomers. It offers excellent elasticity, similar to traditional rubber, while also being processable like thermoplastics. This means TPE tubing can be easily molded, extruded, and fabricated into various shapes and sizes, making it highly adaptable for different peristaltic pump applications.

Peristaltic Pump Tubing
Outer Diameter (OD): The measurement of the tubing's external surface and is typically the larger value.
Inner Diameter (ID): The internal measurement inside the tubing, critical for ensuring proper flow rates.
The most important thing to consider in tubing size is the combination of ID and OD. Selecting the correct measurement unit and ensuring precise compatibility are key to achieving an efficient and leak-proof liquid cooling system. These values also determine the wall thickness of your tubing, which in turn determines its flexibility and resistance to kinking.
 What temperature range can TPE peristaltic tubing handle?
TPE tubing typically performs well between -40°C to 80°C (-40°F to 176°F). Short-term exposure to slightly higher temperatures (up to 100°C) is possible, but prolonged use above 80°C may degrade elasticity over time.
Can TPE tubing be used for food or medical applications?
Yes, the right TPE grades are certified for food contact (e.g., FDA 21 CFR 177.1520) or medical use (e.g., USP Class VI). Ensure the tubing is labeled as “food-grade” or “biocompatible” and free of toxic additives. Avoid contact with oils/fats for prolonged periods, as some TPE formulations may swell slightly.

 Is TPE tubing resistant to UV or ozone exposure?
Standard TPE has moderate UV resistance but may degrade slowly with prolonged sunlight exposure. For outdoor or ozone-rich environments (e.g., water treatment), choose UV-stabilized TPE grades or switch to silicone tubing for better ozone resistance.
